Adoption Resources Santa Fe provides pre-adoption counseling,
adoption education workshops, adoption home studies, post placement
services, all adoption related counseling, post adoption support
services as well as referrals to other needed support.
Nichoe Lichen graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a
degree in Social Work in 1977 and earned her Masters Degree in
Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in 1993. She has
worked in the field of adoption since 1989 and been licensed as an
Independent Adoption Clinical Social Worker and has provided adoption
services in independent adoptions since 1995.
She is the parent of four adult children, three of whom came to her
family by adoption. As an adoptive parent herself, she understands the
importance of providing heart-felt, ethical, honest and competent service
to those who need her assistance. She is committed to openness and
honesty in the adoption processes because she believes it serves the
best interests of all involved.
Her long-term established professional relationships with honest and reputable adoption agencies and
attorneys who provide domestic and international adoption services are an
important feature of her social work practice. She is knowledgeable of and
experienced in the requirements and process for independent adoptions,
step-parent adoptions, relative adoptions and co-parent adoptions as well as
international adoptions and domestic adoptions through agencies.
Ms. Lichen gives pre-adoptive parent seminars on the kinds of adoption, and
education needed to make sound decisions for an inter-cultural adoption, a
domestic and foreign adoption, of adoption of infants as well as older children from foster care.
Importantly, she helps families understand adoption as a life-long process.
She is a past President of the New Mexico Adoption and Foster Care Alliance of New Mexico (www.adoptfostercarealliancenm.org) and past Vice President. She is active on the legislative sub committee of this organization that works to
improve adoption laws in the State of New Mexico.
